4.3 Quadrats samples

quadrats are use for sampling the distribution of organism in their habitat

and use the quadrat to find the population of daisy:

by random sampling

--> reduce the biasness

- use random number for x,y

- count the number of daisies in the square that was chosen

we need a representative sample - the bigger the better

- looking at about 10 quadrats / 10% of the actual area 

after finishing we create a column

and then we will no the number of daisys per meter squared

4.2 Quadrat

the fence splits the sand dune like the picture below:

by choosing to study the population on each side we have to count the number of individuals in the population by using a technique called "quadrating"

qudrat- can be made out of :

-wood 

-string 

-metal

with different sizes 

the quadrat is used to sample the area, and will count the area in the quadrat to get an estimate of the population size
