Osmosis takes place when the xylem moves the water up the root.
When the braches grow out (branch out) they do it to find more water source in order for the plant to grow bigger,
they also increase the surface area for more absorption of water.
The root hair (smallest end of root) is called the epidermal. The extended root hair cell increases to absorb more water. The surface area of the root hair allows more water to be absorbed
The plant uses active transport to transport minerals. This encourages osmosis, where the dilute solution is the soil water ( surrounded by root hair) and the minerals in the cell being the concentrated solution
